Cari Celaya - Violinist
Cari Celaya, a resident of Camarillo, CA, currently serves as the assistant concertmaster of the Westlake Village Symphony and concertmaster of the annual Messiah and Easter oratorio Lamb of God. She performs with the Sepia Strings Quartet and Violin~Harp Duo, adding ambience to weddings, special dinner parties, and memorial services. Growing up with a grandmother who conducted many beautiful choirs and a father whose barbershop quartet was assigned to entertain the military during WWII, Cari finds it especially gratifying to accompany vocal ensembles such as the Conejo Valley Choral Society, the Calvary Choir, and the Los Robles Children’s Chorale. The King and I and Les Miserables are two of her favorite theatre highlights of playing in the orchestra pit. Cari contributed to a special studio project, recording violin tracks on the album “Limitless” for the Grammy award-winning guitarist and songwriter, Freddie Fox. Cari’s solos and ensembles are requested often for church services, and she loves sharing her music with the residents of local health care facilities. Cari began private lessons at 8 years old studying formally under Cynthia Richards, professor of violin performance and pedagogy at Brigham Young University, and later Melissa Phelps, professor of violin at California Lutheran University. Cari now passes her love of violin onto her own students in her private studio, and loves coaching for the Conejo Valley Youth Orchestra and summer music camps.
