Alex Deych – Violinist / Viola
Alex Deych, a Soviet-born and trained violist and violinist, has cultivated a remarkable career that spans over five decades. Now residing in Los Angeles, Alex has worked as a freelance musician in New York, Montreal, and Detroit, showcasing his versatility across various musical genres and ensembles. His distinguished career highlights include serving as the principal violist of the Soviet Émigré Orchestra, performing at President Reagan's Inauguration Ball, collaborating with jazz legend Ornette Coleman, and premiering O. Felzer's Sonata for viola solo at Carnegie Weiss Hall, as well as the complete recording of Bach's six violin sonatas and partitas on viola.
Alex's extensive experience has led to the development of the Advanced Violin & Viola Workshop, dedicated to perfecting the fundamental aspects of violin playing. Intended for intermediate through advanced violinists/violists, the intense curriculum includes in-depth discussions of muscle relations as it pertains to the bow arm control, articulation, finger isolation, vibrato, and synchronicity, and offers a comprehensive analysis of sound production and violin fundamentals.
